MammalsI haven't been able to find out much about the mammals at Chard. Certainly foxes are present, I've often seen them from the hide wandering unconcerned along the quiet west bank. I've also watched a young fox pouncing for a small mammal (a vole I guess) just outside the entrance to the wood.
Grey Squirrels are common, especially at the entrance to the woodland on the path to the bird hide. Roe Deer are present and best seen early morning 1 Dead Wood Mouse Apodemus sylvaticus 9th May 2000 If anyone has information or observations on the mammals at Chard reservoir: email me: kevin@chardres.totalserve.co.uk |
